Last Tuesday, June 27, 14 representatives from Hazen High School boarded a plane and headed to Anaheim, CA to join 13,000 other members from across the nation to compete against the best of the best that FBLA has to offer. This was the first year that Hazen has ever sent 13 members to the FBLA national conference and the first year that we have placed in more than 1 event at the national level. The students who represented Hazen High School were:
In any competitive event at this conference, there was on average between 80 – 100 total competitors and Hazen FBLA did incredibly well amongst their competition. While I don’t know where everyone finished in their preliminary competition round (score sheets are being sent to Hazen within the next couple weeks), Samantha Yee and Erica Pilot made Top 15 teams in E-Business and Anthony Glaefke made Top 15 in Sales Presentation. Because to their scores, Samantha, Erica, and Anthony were able to present again in the final round. These three students stood out to the judges amongst their peers as they placed and got called up on stage! Samantha and Erica received 9thplace in E-Business with their website Change for Change and Anthony received 6th place in Sales Presentation with his products Kilo Threads (information on the product Anthony “sold” to his judges can be found here). In addition to the success in our competitive events, we were also one of the 20 chapters in the Western Region of national FBLA to be recognized for the “ConnecTen” membership recruitment drive. This is where chapter increase their membership by at least 10% and the Western Region of national FBLA consists of Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. While we were not competing, we got to play tourist and have fun at Universal Studios Hollywood, Disneyland and California Adventure Park, and Huntington Beach! We had a fantastic time exploring The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, hanging with Indiana Jones, Captain Jack Sparrow, Micky and Minnie Mouse, and so much more! Comments are closed.
